Laboratory Safety
LabCup was designed with a safety first approach! Safety functionality is automated as much as possible. The aim: automate safety info & put it in the users hands when it is needed.
Safety, hazard tracking and compliance
LabCup was designed with a safety first approach.
LabCup has a huge amount of functionality based around increasing safety, minimising risk, and providing instant access to emergency information and hazard tracking.
- Risk assessment
LabCups risk assessment module allows risk assessment forms (COSHH, OI etc) to be quickly completed and stored, and always instantly available.
If you have a risk assessment form that was previously introduced, accepted and preferred by staff on your site, we can easily integrate it into LabCup.
- Hazard tracking and digital floorplans
LabCup allows for complete hazard tracking across an organization.
Digital floorplans can be used to give a visual location of live hazard information.
Set you own warning levels! For auditing purposes custom thresholds can be set per chemical type, total quantity or quantity per area for each type.
- Emergency response and fire crews
In event of emergency, LabCup provides live information to fire crews on what hazards are on the campus, where, and in what quantities.
Fire crews can be given access to this before they even arrive on campus.

The “Safety Officer” account gives the responsible person(s) complete oversight of the building, department, entire campus or site. It allows them to search by any parameter, and map hazards on digital floorplans.
The Safety Officer has approval right for risk assessments and purchase orders.
LabCup has multiple regulatory and safety reports built into the system. These are generated instantly across the campus for any time period, in the exact format required by regulations, including:
- -Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC)
- -Drugs Precursors
- -Chemicals of Interest
- -CMR substances
- -Peroxide forming chemicals
- -Custom reports, etc.
Set you own warning levels! For auditing purposes custom thresholds (MAQs) can be set per chemical type (hazard class), total quantity or quantity per area for each type.
The MAQ limits and their current completion percentage are displayed per laboratory on floorplans.
If you have a risk assessment form that was previously introduced, accepted and preferred by staff on your site, we can easily integrate it into LabCup.
There is a wealth of safety information in LabCup that can be easily linked to laboratories and used as information content for safety placards. Create and share your own placard templates with others.
First Aid measures (or emergency kits) can be easliy assigned to physical spaces, such as buildings, floors and faboratories and the information can be used on risk assessment forms or laboratory placards.
Add personal protective equipments (PPEs) information to chemical products/items or to biologicals to increase staff safety.
Define normal and emergency use PPEs if required.
Add weblink for internal or external PPE database.
Search for, and show PPE pictograms on datasheet or in the result table.
Laboratory Safety
Risk Assessment & Incident Reporting
LabCup’s risk assessment module allows risk assessments to be completed and stored as quickly as possible. Users can report minor injuries or near misses via the software even anonymously.
- Chemical process risk assessments: creation and storing
For risk assessments involving chemicals, the chemical hazard information and SDS is linked in from the system.
Chemicals, through their datasheets are cross linked to any risk assessments they appear in for easier, one click access. You can even create a new risk assessment with one click from the chemical's datasheet directly.
- Automatic, semi-quantitative storage risk estimation
Storage risk is automatically estimated without any user interaction. It depends on storage conditions and the hazards of the chemical itself. Possible storage improvements are recommended to lower the risk to its minimum ALARP (“As Low as Reasonably Practicable”). It is a simple tool to help the user to pinpoint possible time bombs!
- Work / Activity Risk Assessment Forms
Work activity risk forms are not linked to chemicals. Their scope would cover physical activities rather than chemical/biological processes.
However, users can manage and complete these forms from the same place with convenience. The forms are linked to them, and subject to one or two level approval.
- Incident and near miss reporting
LabCup’s incident reporting section allows users to quickly record incidents and near misses, which are then submitted to the Safety Officer.
- -Reports are always linked to the chemicals/items involved
- -Instant notification to the Safety Officer
- -Artificial intelligence
LabCup automatically learns from the incident reports using artificial intelligence (AI), and helps provide a more accurate risk rating for each chemical
